So, this didn't happen today, but over the course of the past few months. When I go to Costco, I buy a pack of socks. They have some nice thick ones. I keep them in my truck, and when I roll up on someone who is homeless, I offer them a pair.
With one exception, the recipients are ecstatic.
Socks are the number one requested item at homeless shelters.
The best to get (if you can) are black socks (they hide the dirt) that are treated with Microban. These people seldom have an opportunity to change or wash socks, so this is a big deal. And as anyone who's been in the military knows, clean, dry socks are lifesavers. They keep feet from sores and rot.
