The 1932 Summer Olympics opening Ceremony on JULY 30th, officially known as the Games of the X Olympiad, was a major worldwide multi-athletic event which was celebrated in 1932 in Los Angeles, California, United States. No other cities made a bid to host these Olympics. Held during the worldwide Great Depression, many nations and athletes were unable to pay for the trip to Los Angeles. Fewer than half the participants of the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam returned to compete in 1932. Even U.S. President Herbert Hoover skipped the event (Officially opened by Vice President Charles Curtis). The victory podium was used for the first time. The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum was known in 1932 as Olympic Stadium. Due to an official's error, the 3,000 m steeplechase went for 3,460 m, or one extra lap. 117 events in 20 disciplines, comprising 14 sports, were part of the Olympic program. A total of 37 nations were represented at the 1932 Games. Colombia made its first appearance at the Olympic Games. Reed David Larson (born July 30, 1956 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is a retired professional ice hockey defenseman and former captain of the Detroit Red Wings who played 904 regular season games in the National Hockey League between 1976 and 1990. He is a member of the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. He played for Minneapolis Roosevelt High School and was their leading scorer in the 1973-1974 season when they went to the state tournament. Larson spent three seasons under coach Herb Brooks at the University of Minnesota's Minnesota Gophers before being drafted by the Detroit Red Wings with the 22nd pick of the 1976 NHL Entry Draft. He was named one of the 50 greatest players in University of Minnesota hockey history as part of the "Legends on Ice" tribute in 2001. WHA Draft 220th overall, 1974

Hilary Ann Swank (born July 30, 1974 in Lincoln, Nebraska) is an American actress and producer. She also competed in the Junior Olympics and the Washington state championships in swimming, and she ranked fifth in the state in all-around gymnastics. Swank made her first appearance on stage when she was nine years old, starring in The Jungle Book. The Next Karate Kid (1994)& one of my Top Ten All-Time Favorites- In 2007, Swank starred in Freedom Writers, about how a real-life teacher, Erin Gruwell, inspired a California high school class. She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on January 8, 2007.
Hope Amelia Solo (born July 30, 1981 in Richland, Washington) is an American soccer goalkeeper, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and a World Cup gold medalist. She has been goalkeeping for the United States women's national soccer team since 2000. After playing at the collegiate level for the University of Washington, she played professionally for the Philadelphia Charge in the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA).

As proof, the author of Hebrews presents a stirring reminder of what constitutes “true faith” by reviewing the lives of some Old Testament giants of faith (Heb. 11). “Without faith,” the author says bluntly, “it is impossible to please God” (11:6).
