Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Lovely Outing

My grocery shopping outing was a lovely one. I bought some chocolates from a school charity group and congratulated the girls on what a great job they were doing on selling the chocolates. They were very happy to hear the praise! Then I went into a little shop to buy some incense and to my delight saw some beautiful local art. One item that caught my eye was a book full of blank pages made at home by a local artist. He recycled the paper from, in his words, "an embarrassing teenage diary" and made these lovely little journals for writing haiku poetry in! The young woman who worked at the shop was very excited to show these to me. She said she has one herself and uses the paper to write love messages to friends and family. Her hope is that they will add to her messages and pass them on to other loved ones. Beautiful. She asked if I needed a bag and when I said that I didn't she put her hands together, bowed her head slightly and said, "Thankyou for supporting local artists and Thankyou for helping our environment." Her beautiful kind words stayed with me for the rest of the day. It makes me think that there is hope for a beautiful future on this planet when young people speak this way. Namaste to everyone ❤️
