Stories of Kindness from Around the World

The Only Blanket

--by Sofiamuro, posted Sep 26, 2016

Some friends and me were planning an apostolate of missions in Chignahuapan, Puebla. They told us that the weather was going to be warm, so we did not carry any blankets with us. We arrived to the little town with a sleeping bag, a pillow and a suitcase per girl. The people at the town received us with a lot of happiness and love. We placed our things in the house that we were going to stay all week, it was a little bit chilly inside. We prepared our dinner with the food that we bought, and prepared ourselves to sleep. We fell asleep immediately, but by 3:00 a.m. I woke up because I couldn't bare the cold. By morning all girls were complaining about the cold but we decided to sacrifice. I got to a very poor house to mission and I started telling the grandma inside about the night that I had passed. She stood up and gave me the only blanket that she had, and what I felt was beautiful.
