Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Keeping Life In Perspective.

--by splain, posted Dec 3, 2016

Met relatives for lunch today. It was so hard as she is going through terrible depression. I kept the conversation going and asked the other people about their lives and what they are doing. I asked her to meet me after Christmas and we will go out for lunch , just the two of us. I bought present for all of them and tons of hugs and kisses goodbye. Afterwards I felt down because of how it is. But said to myself, ok you have been there for her and done your best, now enjoy the rest of my day. And ........ I did. We must show empathy and help others but we cannot carry them as in the long term they have to help themselves. I know from experience, to get better, I went out and helped others. Wow, my troubles looked small compared to those I came in contact with. I hope one day she will be able to do this. Now at home , did the garden, patted big Oscar and cuddled Bentley. Then sat outside with Stewart and chatted on the front porch. A wonderful day
