Stories of Kindness from Around the World

A Special Advent Event

--by pianopoodle, posted Dec 3, 2016

Today Bill and I attended something special to celebrate Advent. A large church near us (not ours) gives a Nativity event each year. I keep meaning to go to it, and finally this year I thought it would be nice for both of us. It is held in their gym, and the whole place was filled with displays of different Nativity scenes. This ranged from hand made by children to the most expensive and exquisite scenes. They were all owned by members of the congregation and came from every country you could imagine all over the world. One man had a display with 104 different figurines from Italy. Most took your breath away, but some made you really smile - such as a scene where every figure was portrayed by a different dog! And next to it was a scene with all different cats! There were Native American scenes, Eskimos, people from Africa, and from Hawaii. It made me realize how we each see God in our hearts, no matter where or how we live. What a wonderful event this was! We will be sure to repeat it next year.
