Taking on Responsibility
What are our instincts when someone shares their unhappiness with us? Do we find ourselves feeling responsible to find ways for them to find happiness? It is not their intention to have us take on that responsibility. They have found someone who has shown them kindness and compassion; someone who is open-hearted and caring. It is a relief to share their sorrows and they are not seeking solutions. Life ebbs and flows for each of us; there are times of sorrow and times of joy. To have people around us willing to share in those moments without taking on the responsibility for us is a gift of love and compassion that uplifts us even as we cry. Please feel free to share, if you are so inspired. Picture taken by TC
