"faith Is The Bird ...

"Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark." - Rabindranath Tagore

I ended my work day today on the phone with a fairly new client who has a lot of tax problems. I've been hired to resolve them. He owes nearly $300,000 to the IRS. He has prostate cancer and he is going through a divorce. He is a retired anesthesiologist who just opened a new medical practice. He told me his current practice is all he has to live for.

I don't pass judgment on how people find themselves in these circumstances. I don't care how it happened. What I care about is getting them the help and resolution they need.

Throughout our conversation he was gracious and thankful for my time with him. He said he's overwhelmed and has developed anxiety. He owes me paperwork that I've been trying to get for a couple of weeks so I can move forward on his behalf. During our call, I suggested he come to my office to sit with me and just get the paperwork done. He said he's had trouble facing his fears and mistakes and doing the paperwork with me, instead of doing it alone, is what he needs.

I often do not have time to do RAOK in the outside world beyond my job, but I can give extra time and reassurance to my clients.  I always feel better having done so.

My hope is that I am helping to restore his life to a place where he can sing when the dawn is still dark.
