Tomorrow begins the Kindness Challenge here in the U.S. but before that begins, I just wanted to wish everyone a magical October.
October is a special month for me. It's my favorite. It's not my birthday or the the birthday of any of my children.
Thirty four years ago, my uncle died this month in a car accident on the 22nd, which has since become my lucky number. Sounds strange, no? It does, I'd agree. But, it was at that time, that I was exposed to how connected everything is. That connections remain even after death.
Since then, every October, something unexpectedly wonderful occurs. Sometimes small, sometimes large, but always something just to remind me they are there.
And, this year, I am taking a trip, a pilgrimage in a few weeks to honor him, my grandmother and others who have gone onto the other side who have honored me with the grace of their Love.
I can feel it now. My one co-worker asked me when I was leaving and I told her and we spoke of her parents who had passed. I asked her if she wanted me to do anything/take anything in their memory. And, she started to cry talking about how her mom loved me and loved a shawl I crocheted for her and how the flowers I gave her were the last she had in her life. And, as we both hugged in tears, she said to me, You know, she's pulling for you on the other side.
It was all I could do not to lose it. And, it's just Oct. 1.
But, I love this and I expect Oaxaca to be no different. I expect to have my heart completely tore open by all that Energy there, to feel immense sadness and Joy and Fear and ecstasy of Connection with all in the act of serving those who came before me, those who've left before me, and those who picked me or found me significant in some way, for a purpose or because of the Life I go into fully and the heart I try so hard to give.
It is my hope for everyone here that this October unveils a Magic so unfathomable to us that it blows our hearts open in a way that that Love can't help but spread and bring Joy to all. Happy October, Everybody! <3
