Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Who Knew? Re-centering Opened Acceptance And Compassion.

--by lightraes, posted Oct 22, 2014

I was surprised that I remembered to practice this throughout the day. The easiest time was when I was receiving a reiki treatment at a local adult center. I was able to set aside the mental chatter and mindfully invite healing energy into my body and mental space. The other times I paused to become mindful were, surprisingly enough, times when I was struggling with something or growing impatient. By pulling back to a present moment awareness I found myself shifting into acceptance and sometimes even compassion for other people who were initially "the cause" of my difficulties. In retrospect I got a lot out of trying to bring myself back to a mindful place through the day; I would like to continue this practice.
