My Grandfather Left His ...

My grandfather left his home at 12 due to beatings from his father and stepmom. He worked real hard and ended buying the most important block of Rio Piedras, say downtown in Puerto Rico. The household was upstairs and as big as a house. I had the privilege of visiting for a few months at 8....and then he said something that marked me: "I do not need a paper to honor my word. When I give my word, that's all that is necessary". I have assumed his motto and have taught it to my son.
During his funeral Rio Piedras residents paid their respects by hundreds. He helped many without saying a word. He would give free food during WWII. The Universe treated him with Prosperity in many ways as he was giving....a tribute to Tomas Cortes, my grandfather.
