Clothes For Animals

I cleaned out my boy's closet yesterday. Some items have stains or tears that couldn't be removed or repaired so I didn't think they would be much use for a human charity.

Instead of just throwing them away I cleaned them best I could and donated them to the local animal shelter. They can use them for bedding for the dogs and cats.

I just hate to throw anything away and to think they can keep an animal warm makes me feel good.

Lending An Ear

On Saturdays we are able to go and help serve breakfast at the soup kitchen. My two boys go with me to help. They see what it's like to have nothing & to be thankful for a warm meal. We started to make muffins to take with us when we go. When everyone is leaving they can take the muffins for later. I have one boy who serves everyone with a smile. My other boy takes the time to sit & talk to the people there. To make them feel like they have a worth. Homeless... Dirty... What ever their story may be... He listens. To me- that is the biggest heart of all that we do.

A Library Of Magazines For The Homeless

Our public library is next to a building that helps the homeless. There are quite a few homeless people who end up sitting in the library reading or just staying dry and warm.

Today I gathered up a box full of my old magazines and donated them to the library. These don't have to be checked out and people can take them if they want to.This way the library staff don't have any extra work to do and people who can't afford magazines can still get to read them.
