Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Opportunities are Always Presenting Themselves

--by jennyegypsy, posted Jun 6, 2016
I was at a local co-op today. Two elderly women were standing by the cafe with a bowl of soup and an entree each in their hands. A younger woman at the the other side of the food bar was speaking with another woman. The elderly women stood there, looking almost frozen and patiently waiting. I asked them if they would like a tray for their food items. They agreed they would.

In a few minutes as I was seated in the cafe area, the same 3 women came to sit behind me. I turned to see one could not pull her chair up to the table to effectively reach her food to begin eating. I calmly rose and said, "Let me push your chair in." Such a small action...yet I knew it was an opportunity for me to offer kindness. I am grateful for these little opportunities that appear when I am paying attention.
