Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Receiving So Much From So Many

--by autumnsky38, posted Jul 23, 2017
I received many kindnesses in the last week or and I had to share.

My Dad (bless him) was having a good day yesterday and I was having a problem with another family member, so I brought it up, and he was so great. He reassured me that the other person had problems and it was okay for me to make some choices about dealing with him, and that he himself had some of the same issues with the person too. I felt heard and understood, and I told him that it felt good to have him on my side, and he hugged me and said that he was always on my side. It touched me so much and I felt for the first time in awhile that my Dad was able to be in the role of "Dad" for me-it was such a huge blessing. (Especially given how things have been changing this year).

I received the nicest kindnesses from my pharmacist (who makes my kitty's medications) too. Last week I went to get meds for Tom, and while I was there waiting I got a text from my stepmother saying that my Dad was in the emergency room. Well, I froze and my lady at the pharmacy asked me if I was okay, brought me a glass of water, and had me take a seat for awhile until I calmed down. She made sure I was alright to drive before I left, and I just felt so cared for by her. She's always been a sweetheart, but that day she went above and beyond and I just feel such gratitude right now for her. (Btw, my Dad apparently had a pinched nerve and he is home, thank-God!)

Yesterday, while I was walking through a little town near that same pharmacy, I found THE most gorgeous hydrangea bush and I felt/knew it was from my Mom and my God. It was gorgeous and I felt like that wonderful quote I've seen here on KindSpring, like "the earth was laughing in flowers".

I've also had many little moments this week of kindnesses like people opening doors for me. People smiling at me, talking or smiling briefly with me in stores, etc. I've felt so blessed, and I know that they always say that when you give kindnesses, it comes back to you, but I've never felt it or seen it in action as strongly as I have recently. Wow!!  I have felt more "a part of things" and connected to others more than I have in years, and I know that finding KindSpring has been a big part of that. Thank-you all so much for opening your hearts to me, and helping me to open mine to others-I'm receiving more than I ever imagined!
