Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Still Smiling

--by mindyjourney, posted Aug 22, 2017
During the wait time for the balloon launch, I felt a strong nudge to walk up to the rock building shelter near the top of Pageant Hill. (Husband stayed in his lawn chair, wishing for more coffee -- it was 5:30 am after all!)

And there, I met Rudy, his wife Beth and their rescue dog Noah -- the reasons for that Divine nudge.

Originally from Germany, but since retiring from the military,  they are full-time RV'ers. As the sun rose, our connection grew, with me viewing a video of their first grandchild (able to see every day via skyping to Germany), promising to email them my recipe for naan (done!) and exchanging their contact info card for a Peace dove and a Smile card.

Rudy and Beth's philosophy of "Travel as much as you can. As far as you can. As long as you can. Life's not meant to be lived in one place," struck a cord with me.

I guess my KindSpring tag of mindyjourney does rather define an aspect of my evolving self. From a former panic disorder sufferer (couldn't even leave the house!) to BEing comfy wherever I am, well, that is a HUGE ongoing learn.

Rudy emailed me to say they've hung the Peace dove in their motorhome and invited us to stop by sometime, since they are camped for the summer in the Hills. Might just have to visit and bring some midnight baked treat.

Life!!!

It sure is a journey, whether up the hill, on the road, to the grocery, or out the back deck. Enjoy wherever life finds you, my friends, and be open to the connects along the way.

Therein lie some of our greatest treasures, dawning with each new day.

Grateful, blessed and somewhat smiling.

I am also glad for your transformation beyond the limits of a panic disorder and now, living life abundantly, freely, and experiencing it so much more fully! I want this for a few family members of mine, too. The journey is a big part of life's gift! So good you are embracing it! :)
