Stories of Kindness from Around the World

A Loving Family In Need Of Happiness And Cheer

--by BriannaMarie, posted Jan 13, 2018
On December 15th, 2017, Karen M Carlquist of Bloomingdale, IL peacefully lost her battle to metastatic breast cancer. This 36 year old young woman was incredible in so many ways, but nothing was more incredible to her than what she called her "Fab 5", which was her husband Kenny and her 4 children: Gavin (13), Ryan (12), Karson (4), and Kenzie (2). These 5 people were her entire world and her entire life. Karen herself was so unbelievably selfless, despite a terminal diagnosis 14 months into her cancer battle. She smiled every single day. No joke, every single day. For 16 months, she sent a Snapchat to her ever growing group of followers that showed her smiling, right up until 2 days before she passed. She started a blog almost immediately after getting diagnosed, which I have added for you to look at here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1786016728276565/.
This group has over 3,000 followers and they weren't just following her cancer diagnosis, they were following her positivity and pure incredibleness of looking fear in the face and showing the world that while cancer might beat your body, it will never, ever beat your spirit or soul.

With that being said, her passing has left a gaping hole in all of us, but especially in her immediate Fab 5. Anytime is a difficult time to lose a wife and mother, but this time of year can be even more so. Now Kenny is left behind with a ton of medical bills, financial bills and 4 kids to support, and unfortunately a spirit of sadness and in need of hope. I am hoping that this community could send cards of cheer to this family, as anything would help them.

I am a close friend of Kenny and his family, and he doesn't know I am writing this. He would be too proud to ask for support, which makes him more incredible. If you would like to send me a card to give to Kenny, please write me and let me know and I can provide you an email address or address in which to send this information.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, to this wonderful, amazing, incredible community of people.
