Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Tuesday's Kindness Report

It's amazing what can happen with you venture out with the mission of kindness! Yesterday, I had a most successful trip out. :)

First, I started off by recycling and picking up trash around the dumpsters. Then, I put a muffler, hat, and gloves in a bag to give to the woman who lives under a bridge near her home. I didn't see the lady who would give it to her, but I have the bag ready-to-go in car for when I do meet up with her.

Then, while running some errands, I chatted up with the clerks at Trader Joe's. It was nice to have some laughter and good conversation. After that, I swung by the bank. I had been to the bank about six weeks ago, on my birthday, and the new teller remembered and asked how my day had been. We ended up chatting about kindness, and I shared the KindSpring site with her. :) Next, at Whole Foods, I ended up getting into some nice conversations with several customers and clerks. Finally, when I arrived back at home, three neighbors were around and smiling wide, happy to see me. They stayed and chatted for a bit. One held the door and then the elevator open for me.

After I got into my home, I emailed a couple friends in crisis some words of support. I received pictures from a friend's ocean-side vacation, and forwarded them to another friend who misses the ocean. Then, I took a good nap, made a tasty dinner, and finished up a boy's scarf. Today, I will sew the hat and gloves together, then start on his mother's set.

And one more: I have a shawl that I made for myself, and have used maybe once a year since I made it four years ago. I've decided to gift it, but haven't been able to decide who to give it to, so it is currently resting in a bag in the car. On one of these trips out into the world, I just know I'll encounter the person who's meant to have it.

What a great day! Hugs to store clerks, customers, and neighbors. The opportunity to hold the door open and smile at everyone. A stock of gifts in the car to keep people warm, a tasty dinner, and nourishing conversations. Looking forward to see what the next day will bring...! :)

I've gifted quilts to people who are sick and struggling mightily, and just one small, snuggly quilt seems to make a huge difference in their lives. Blessings to you!
