Stories of Kindness from Around the World

A Helping Hand for Heavy Bags

--by deepee, posted Apr 26, 2015
Last week, my daughter and I were walking down the street when all of a sudden grapes fell from a woman's bag. I ran over to her grabbed her grapes and the other bags that were falling to the ground. I tied the bags together, put them on her arm and wished her well. She gave me the biggest smile and wished me a blessed day.

Today as I walked out of the bank, there was a woman walking trying to hold her bag filled with bottles to be recycled, her cane as well as her purse. She walked a few steps, stopped, and started again. I asked if she was okay, if I could help. I offered her a ride to the recycling center. She was very happy to get in my car. She was a very nice person and didn't look her age of 91. I told her she looked fantastic, she responded people always tell me that but that her body is old. I was happy that I was able to help her even for the short ride to the recycling center.
