Pumping Gas For An Old Lady

Not a really stupendous story, but I was really jazzed after this small act.

I'd stopped to fill up the gas tank on my pickup and noticed an older lady (in her 80s) in the next lane. She was walking with one of the canes with outriggers and seemed to be having a problem getting around.

I watched for a bit, not wanting to insult her if she was making it. I finally asked her if I could help. Got a look like, "I don't know you." Then I asked if I could carry something in to the attendant for her. She considered this for a moment and handed me $30.00 to take in.

I did, and then pumped the gas for her.

It turns out that this woman, with the prettiest brown eyes, had hurt her knee, and was trying to get to her doctor.   I'm glad I was able to lend a hand.

Expired Meters And A Pockeful Of Change

Just another simple one.  I noticed that I was walking with a slight list the other day due to a large amount of change in my right pocket. Now, I know that I could have shifted my ballast just a bit and evened things out, but there were cars parked there on expired meters :-)  Oh Darn!  It was a weekday too!  So I engaged in a paperwork reduction act of my own.  I figured that the metermaid wouldn't have to write so many tickets if I fed some meters.  Welp, I made a couple of blocks and was walking on a more even trim, and didn't have to shift ballast at all :-)

Problem Solving to Make Someone's Day

I wanted to share my one, and I hope not the only, good deed for this week.  It's a shortie.  I had turned off the highway heading towards where I work when I noticed that there was a car stalled in a less than great position.  I immediately pulled ahead to a safe spot, stopped my car and helped to push (manual transmission luckily!) the car to a safe place.  I decided to investigate the problem in case I might be able to sold it and I actually found what was wrong.  There was a loose battery cable and I was able to fix it immediately so that they could get back on the road.   I like that kind of problem, easy and obvious!
