Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Thank you Mrs.

I was shopping at my local supermarket. A lady in front of me in line was visibly upset and appeared to be having a rotten day. Unfortunately her two little boys were the casualties of her angry mood. She was snatching their arms and scolding them in such a way that the surrounding store customers in line just watched her in silence. The two little boys were clutching  candy bars in their hands. The cashier totaled the bill for the mother. She paid and began shuffling the boys out of the customer line when she suddenly noticed the candy bars in their respective hands. Her fury surged as her face reddened and her eyes became larger. She was telling them it was too late to buy those candy bars and that they were too sugary anyway! She coldly told them to put the candy back on the shelf as if the boys were little chocolate culprits. The two small boys, with their adorably sulking faces, very obediently proceeded to put the bars back where they found them.

Almost heartbroken after witnessing this event, I asked the "Mama" if I could pay for their treats. Her face lost its tenseness for a moment. She said she would appreciate that and so the little boys put their respective candy bars on the counter beside my grocery items and I added them to my bill. As they munched their crunchy chocolate bars while they were exiting the store, they kept looking back at me and stared at my face during their whole journey out of the store. I smiled as sweetly as possible and just before the boys vanished back into their little lives and out of mine, one boy quickly yelped, "Thank you Mrs."  I smiled back at him.

What is really sad about it is the fact they will most likely be the same way to their children...Children are such angels and depend on us to teach them the right things. I'm glad you showed them there are beautiful people in the world....Thank you!
