Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Subway Kindness

--by Mish, posted Jul 9, 2016
I just got back from a fun day in Manhattan. I was able to share smiles and peace doves, (that a KS member Mindy makes) on the subway with a few folks. I had tucked dollar bills in each dove (they fit perfectly if you fold them up and tuck them right in with the blessing Mindy puts in each one). Young boys play music and do amazing athletic "dance" routines, swinging from pole to pole. Then they pass the hat hoping for donations. And in went a peace dove.

On the return trip a lovely Chinese gentleman was playing a heartfelt version of Amazing Grace on his violin. When I gave him the dove he bowed to me, I bowed back, and then he kissed my hand. That was a first for me! LOL.

My husband gave his seat to an older woman who came on the train. At first she hesitated, but he convinced her to take his seat. A few stops later when someone across the way got up, she scooted over and motioned to him to sit back down. She got off the train at same station we did and was so sweet, holding the door for us and saying good bye and thanking us again. Nice subway ripples today.

No shortage of adventures traveling on the NYC subways! I ❤️ NY.
