Feeling Loved on Easter

--by Aurelia, posted Apr 17, 2009

My teen daughter dates a young man from a 'broken' marriage. It seems sad to me that often when parents split and get significant others in their lives, they forget they are STILL PARENTS.

Bob, my daughter's boyfriend, was with us on Saturday. He placed several calls to his Dad, never getting through directly to him, but leaving messages about Easter plans to find out what they were doing. His Mom was spending it with her boyfriend and he was suppposed to go with his Dad for Easter Dinner.

His Dad never returned any calls and when my daughter called her boyfriend on Easter morning, he was home alone. His Mom was going to be back late that afternoon.  Our family had reservations to go out to brunch. I called and asked if we could squeeze one more at our table and we picked up Bob to go with us. He was so happy and so was my daughter. I even made him an Easter basket...kids are kids and love candy at every age!

It felt good having Bob with us for brunch. And when we dropped him off at his home later that afternoon, his Mom was there and happy to see him. So it all worked out and he felt loved!

timcollardey wrote: Sweet deal, Aurelia. I'm reading a book by a Native American who said the one thing all people have in common is a sense of loneliness. Maybe he's right, but it sure is beautiful that you stepped in to fill that gap for someone else. You're a role model for love !
