Stories of Kindness from Around the World

A Story of Courage and Gratitude After A Life Changing Event

Hello again friends
As per requests from KindSpring friends I am sending an account of the story of my accident. It is part of the letter I sent to KindSpring members Mindy and Mish.

" Milan's back is improving daily and on Thursday he decided he would attend a couple of sessions at the teachers convention. I drove him to the train station and therefore had to take a slightly different route to work. It has been very warm here all week and so in the mornings there has been ice everywhere. I was coming down a ramp headed onto a major 4 lane thoroughfare.

I hit some black ice and started swerving. I tried to correct slowly but suddenly I started going back and forth very quickly. I lost control and hit the side wall to the right and then my car went completely to the left, jumped the median, I hit my head really hard into the ceiling of my car and then headed straight across four lanes of traffic. I then crashed at 90 degrees into a concrete barrier separating the train tracks and the road. The officer at the scene said I was lucky to be alive, not only because I had three points of impact and crossed a busy road but also because there was a truck headed right for me after I had crashed. The driver managed to swerve out of the way. I'm so thankful that no one was hurt.

I just can't stop giving thanks. My airbag deployed so I'm very sore in the chest and neck and head. Otherwise I'm fine. The worst part is living it over and over again in my head. We are both meditating twice a day and that has really helped.

It has taken a toll on our poor Milan as well. I called him from the scene of the accident and left a very distressed sounding message on his voicemail. When he heard it, he was already downtown. He quickly got off the train, caught another train back to the northwest and ran to the bridge which overlooks the road I was on. He could see my car in the distance and RAN along the highway to get to me! I had already been taken to hospital by ambulance. Then he ran home to get the car and rushed to the hospital. We cried when we saw each other. He was just so happy to see me alive and I was so happy to have my Milan with me!!

We went home after tests were done etc and I asked if we could drive the route I took this morning. It was frightening but I needed to see it.
The next day we went to see my little car and I burst into tears seeing it. My little car saved my life. The hood was smashed in. Her airbag was pink, like a little heart. We took out my belongings and then I said goodbye to her and thanked her.

After that we went home and I insisted that I drive myself to the dr. so I wouldn't be so afraid later to drive. I think I was still on adrenaline. Milan suggested I take the same route. I did and it was hard but I did it! After that I was extremely exhausted and came home and settled down with my love and a nice cup of tea.

I've never been so scared in my life. But I've never been so grateful either. Words of love have been pouring in from family and friends. I am so so grateful..."

It is better not to elaborate on this past experience that no one in this world is capable to change. After learning valuable lesson do not dwell on it. Thinking positively greatly helps. Whenever it comes to your mind or someone inquires about it, do not try to bring it again to your mind. Just say thanks to god for saving your precious life and change the subject.

Wish you and milan both all the best in your life. Your good karma of the past and past lives have saved you. May god give you with many opportunities to increase your good karma balance and always keep both of you happy and loved.
