A Helping Hand To A Mother With Four Little Ones

--by LiliAB, posted Mar 27, 2017
We were able to help a mother with her wandering little boy.
The mama wasn't aware when he went out the shop door and I was. I followed him immediately while my daughter alerted the mama, her arms laden with the baby in the carrier and 2 preschoolers tugging at her sides. She screamed for her escapee and he kept running. Into the drive while cars honked .

Not knowing his name I called to him "Wait for me darling ". I lunged forward and scooped him around the waist. He tried to fight but gratefully then he relaxed into my chest. Perhaps he felt my soothing voice telling him " Now you're safe, I'm a teacher, here to help you".

Mama met us curbside flustered and fuming. My daughter was holding the hands of the two preschoolers. I handed her the little boy and helped her to get into the car, all buckled up, four car seats in tow.

I then gave her a Smile card and a reassuring hug, too. She was shaken and explained that she was momentarily distracted and the little boy was her nephew. Visiting our area from his home hours away. Parents going through hard times and she had agreed to shelter her nephew for the foreseeable future.

I gave her my Child Advocates card for support from our County agency. She was visibly relieved. Called my daughter and me " her angels". It was divine intervention.
