The Little Voice In Her Head, That Led Her To Do A Sweet Little Act Of Kindness

--by brindlegirl, posted Apr 8, 2017
I was so blessed today to be able to offer my love and help to an older lady at my local supermarket ... I saw her standing there. For ages. Far too long that it had me curious.

What was she looking at? So I looked. A "Shredded Pork Bun Meal Kit". A do-it-yourself one. "That's new" I thought. Then I watched as the lady begun to dig into her handbag and proceeded to pull out one of the biggest magnifying glasses I think I have ever seen in my whole life! (You know the 'old style' circle ones on a stick handle). "Oh she cant read it" I realized.

So I stood there and continued watching her. And that's when I heard it. You know, the voice in me that often tells me to do the right thing. It told me to help her. But I argued back saying, "No. I won't offer help. It will only embarrass her and she is ok now anyway. She has the worlds biggest magnifying glass helping her!".

And I stood there longer...but the voice came back (it always does). "Help her Nicole. Don't be embarrassed. Just do it. Offer your help". So I did. I read and explained the ENTIRE contents of that box. I read out the ingredients, the instructions on how to cook it, the nutritional value. Everything!

And she was grateful. So grateful. Didn't end up buying it. But grateful. But that doesn't really matter does it? That she didn't buy it. Because I walked away knowing that I had helped. That I had made the right choice. And mostly, that I had given this lady hope. And reminded her that people in this world still care. And care about her.

She was seen. She is loved. And she matters. So much so that a complete stranger took time out of their day to help her. And that stranger was me. The me who argued and didn't 'want to'.

So grateful I am when I choose to listen to the voice that knows so well.

Because love. Love is all that ever really matters 💗
