I woke up the other day in a rather interesting manner to a phone call from a taxi driver who had my friends cell phone. My friend had apparently left it in the cab the night before. The driver had called others, but I was the first one who picked up to answer. It was a rainy morning, which for cab drivers in this big city is a very busy time. The cab driver asked me where he could drop the cell phone off. I told him the cross streets to where l lived and quickly jumped out of bed, got dressed and told the cab driver I'd meet him on the corner of those streets. The driver drove all the way from Queens to deliver this phone to where I lived. I gathered if he had taken on a passenger of two, he could have made some good money from driving that distance.
When I met up with the taxi driver I thanked him and blessed him for having such a kind and beautiful soul. I was so happy for my friend because of this man's kindness! My friend recently moved here from out of the country and I can only imagine how important his cell phone is to him! I further asked the taxi driver if I could get his information, so that my friend can thank him as well. He said my blessings and gratitude was all that he needed and drove off.
I emailed my friend telling him I had his phone and later that day met up with him to tell him how I had received it. Along with the phone I handed him a Smile Card on behalf of the taxi driver and myself. My friend smiled even bigger then after reading the card and said he couldn't believe such kindness existed in this big city. He told me he cannot wait to pay it forward.
I was so touched to witness the kindness that happened early that morning it just made my day!
