A Vet Client Overhears Receptionist in Conversation With a Struggling Elderly Lady

As I was waiting, I heard the receptionist talking on the phone to an elderly client who's elderly dog had collapsed. She had no transport, so the vet said she would do a home visit after lunch. The lady must have been concerned about the cost because the receptionist said a home visit would cost as much as a clinic visit for her (usually it costs way more than a clinic visit, so I knew the lady must be struggling a bit)
Our dog was her usual nut crazy. Dashing around so the vet couldn't examine her, sitting by the door like she had just had a torturous event, snatched the treats from the vet's hand. But it was done!
On the way out as we were paying, the receptionist asked '"Is this all for today?" Meaning did I want toys, treats etc. I asked what the standard clinic consultation charge was, and she said $55, thinking I was querying my bill. I paid for Roux's treatment. Then I said that we have been blessed by kindness lately, and our family would pay the elderly lady's consultation fee. The receptionist had tears in her eyes as she handed me the receipt. It means juggling our finances a bit, but I hope it helps an old lady.
