Stories of Kindness from Around the World

A World of All Kinds of Kindness

--by Douglas, posted Jul 16, 2009

I can't thank God enough for putting kindness on my heart. I work for Dutch Bros. Coffee in Gresham, Oregon and at work we put all of our small change into a jar. The usual practice is to take all this change after it has accumulated for a while and spend it on employee lunch meeting.

One day, however,  i really needed gas money, so i asked our manager if I could use change and  he said, sure that's fine. I took the jar and put it in my car, but then I found that one of my fellow co-workers had lost his license and needed a ride home.  He lived all the way across Portland and I had little gas. I drove him anyway and to my surprise he gave me 20 dollars when i dropped him off. On my way back home I felt so greatfull that while I was sitting in the car at a light at the off ramp I saw a homelss man in need.   I rolled down my window and gave him the jar which actually had 20 dollars in it, oddly enough. He was so thrilled and I was just glad to have been able to help.

Since then I have tried to pass all good deeds on, and be grateful that the world still is full of all kinds of kindness.  We just have to make it show.
