Stories of Kindness from Around the World

The Wrong Bus at the Right Time

--by Nankers, posted Jun 29, 2017
This happened several weeks ago. That morning, I prayed to God to use me for his glory! During my commute to work, I accidentally got on the wrong bus to my office (I was reading the news on my phone) and had to get off and walk several blocks to work, a path I never take normally.

I met a man sitting on a bench looking very distressed, so I asked him what was wrong. He said his car had been towed from a public lot and he had no money to get to the airport to meet his wife. I told him I could help him and to wait there for me. I went to my bank one block away and got cash. When I returned, the man was standing there, watching me approach him. When I gave him the money, he hugged me, thanked me, and started crying! I nearly cried too. I wished him safety to get to the airport, explained how he could take public transit to get there, and then continued to work.

I stopped at my usual restaurant for a to-go breakfast and, at the door, I met another man who politely said, I don't want your money, but could you help me get some food. I said, Of course, please come with me. I ordered my breakfast and paid for this man's order. I wished him a blessed day.

As you may guess, I was praising God for putting me on the wrong bus at the right time, and letting me encounter two people who needed help and compassion. During each encounter, I never felt afraid; I only felt compelled to help them. God answered my morning prayer and used me for His glory that morning. Just retelling this story fills me with His peace!

God gave us his son, his son gave us his life, and you are led by the holy spirit to give to others who are in need. Many blessings will come your way.
