â¤ï¸ A Savored LOVE â¤ï¸
As I gave our waitress at Theadore’s Dining Room in Medora, ND a paper rose and a Peace dove, MisterM exclaimed, “We’re celebrating our 42 year anniversary!”
According to her name tag, Betina-Lee who was from South Africa, replied in her delightful accent, “We shall have to help you celebrate.”
And so they did!!!
While waiting for our dinner, I visited the rest of the diners, handing out paper roses, Peace doves and Rajni quote cards, which opened the way for many happy anniversary wishes, appreciation, and how many years some were together, from 49 to 1 year! The 1 year couple, Barbara and Ron, had reconnected from childhood to marry after both were widowed. They were hosting a special weekend for Barbara’s granddaughters.
“Would you care for a bottle of complimentary champagne?” the sommelier Zoe - also from South Africa, asked. We did care and we did share, with Barbara and Ron and their one granddaughter who was of age :)).
An excellent meal with such gracious service, MisterM and I basked in the glow of a meal 42 years in the making. It tasted serene and rich, tender and wise. The bitter trials and challenges had mellowed into a medley of lessons learned...and most of all a deepening of LOVE.
“Are you ready for dessert?” Betina-Lee, asked. When we replied with groans of how full we were, she said, “Oh, but you have saved room for the special dessert we’ve prepared!”
And so, it seems we had saved space for even more deliciousness.
Savoring the chocolate mousse together, happy and almost too full, Betina-Lee came over and instead of bill folder gave us this:
“The family at the next table has paid for your bill.”
Now I knew why I had been near tears all day. The loving kindness that had culminated in such a generous gift exemplified the change we are seeing in the world. Our meal had just gotten even that much more sweeter….
On our way out, MisterM and I thanked the family and gave them our info card, so if they are ever in our area, they could look us up.
A KindSpring friend said the number 42 was known as the wild card number and you know something? Our 42nd year of marriage is soooo looking kind wild! :)))))
