Stories of Kindness from Around the World

How I Feel

--by Mish, posted Sep 6, 2019
Dear Soulkins,

I was drawn to KS back in 2012 because I liked finding a platform for sharing kindness stories.....Am I the only one noticing, and concerned, that our KS Community Feed has been moving in a direction not in line with its intended use?

Some posts lately, while dealing with topics very worthy of discussion, are not within the website guidelines, which include (from KS FAQS):

❤️“The objective of this site is to spread kindness. Please keep all content you post focused on the topic of kindness and your experiences on doing acts of kindness or receiving kindness from others.”❤️

It’s not a dating website. Nor a mental health website where these sensitive matters are best held by professional and trained supporters, in my opinion.

Perhaps other forum websites, or, private KS messaging would be more appropriate for things folks want to discuss that fall outside the intended purpose of this space?

This is how I feel...some may feel differently & I respect that. But it’s been on my mind a lot & I needed to share how I feel. Thank you. 🙏

Your honesty is appreciated but i agree with everything that pluto178 wrote; my experiences of kindness center's around what has been going around in my life lately, like that last post. I think listening, actually helping and encouraging somebody is indeed an act of kindness. Yes, there may be some posts from others whose subject is more for a conversation with a professional but saying to anyone who wants to express their feelings to go elsewhere, now that is not the right way to go. I believe people here thinks that the community is kind and trustworthy enough to share their story, that is my guess. Also, why ban the subject to kids and teens, a 10-year old could be suicidal, yes that young. Like pluto178 wrote above, an act of kindness should be true, smiling cards or photos are not always effective. I have not posts anything in a while because i have not had a chance to either encounter or having a moment to make an act of kindness that is truly special to mention. I am not angry at you; i too am voicing my opinion. Take care,

I'd add that we often forget that there are so many first time visitors who come to this safe haven to find 'normality' comfort, strength, a relief from fear and anxiety. We forget that there are youths, teenagers, younger children too who might be visiting here via school programmes or through kindness challenges.

My favorite posts are the ones that share the changes in self that kindness brings, whether given or received, acts large or small. It is my heartfelt belief that all acts of kindness build, spread and grow in this turbulent world. Each of us is powerful beyond words - let's continue to support and build that power in order to build a better world for all. Thank you to all who share here, your lights are seen, felt and appreciated.
