Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Chicago Peace Release

--by mindyjourney, posted Feb 14, 2020
There is a thrill, a connection that goes deeper, with every origami Peace dove I release. The combination of energy that goes into its creation from choosing the paper, folding, threading the hanger, printing/cutting and inserting a blessing into the wing, it ALL adds up to some powerful stuff.

As we touristed in Chicago yesterday, from hotel to the Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, and a short walk along the lakefront, doves flew from my purse into the hands of so many!

To name a few of them: A taxi driver, originally from Tajikistan, has been here in USA for 12 years, and his friendly manner and exchange of family questions started our day with smiles.

Andy, the admissions agent at the Field Museum, that opened his palms in a cupping motion, when I gave him a dove. (I have been experiencing this lately, as the dove recipient is making a sacred space to receive.)

The survey taker in the museum, who was pleased that we stopped to take a few minutes to give our opinion on a new exhibit in the works. Her face and body just “lit” up as she  expressed her appreciation on receiving a dove.

The celebrity taxi driver, who had been on television two times :)). Once for running a dating service from his taxi and once for being an entrepreneur by offering coffee and donuts to his fares.

The admissions clerk at the Adler Planetarium, who held the dove carefully, like it was a celestial star in the heavens.

Few other recepients were a taxi driver, a waitress, a doorman.

And you know something, my kind friends? With each dove, I can almost feel the delicious shiver of a ripple, that spins invisible threads of connection, Peace, tolerance, understanding and Love.

Grateful and blessed.

Our words fall short to describe them. We just feel a part of it sister Mindy that you transmit all over, be it in Chicago or else.

Thanks for sharing with us your joy and all the other attachments to it.
