Stories of Kindness from Around the World

In Receiving Mode

I have been on the receiving end of so much kindness, which was  difficult for me at first. At times, my financial situation is not the best.  But with that comes a great lesson in gratitude, budgeting, and deciding what is and what isn't important.

A few times I've had to say no, cancel, or put things off a week. Because of my shortage on money, I had to cancel a massage, which is something I like to treat myself to regularly. When my beautiful masseuse Lisa heard about this, she offered me a massage at a highly discounted price. At first this made me uncomfortable, fearing that she would think that perhaps I was looking to get...of course I wasn't, I was just being honest about my situation. I finally accepted her offer, remembering that I deserve kindness, too.

Then I noticed a friend of mine selling her old exercise bike, which was perfect for me, as I was looking to replace our broken one. I told her I would take it and had planned to pick it up last week when I had the money, but then life got in the way:). When I finally got the time to go pick it up, I realized my financial shortcomings again. I asked her if she could hold onto it for one more week, as then I'd have the funds again. She was happy to do this, but instead she insisted on offering me the bike as a gift. Another opportunity presents itself to teach me how to receive with grace and dignity

I continue to slowly learn how to accept the kindness of others. In fact, the lines between giving and receiving are beginning to blur.

I too often find it hard to open myself to receive love from others - whether a gift, compliment or even at times relationships. Opening yourself to receive allows others to give. Good job Brindle!

Well done you have allowed them to feel good about themselves to me thats as massive as helping others is. x
