I am currently a student teacher at a private school. I have four children and no longer get a paycheck. The heel of my shoe broke while I was teaching. Hence, I had to run to the store to get a new pair and get back to the school before the first parent teacher conference. I planned to go to Walmart, since they have cheap shoes there. I wanted to buy a pair of cheap shoes because I had $10 at the most in my pocket.
I was being pulled to shop at Payless instead. They had a BOGO event going on, buy one get 50% off the second pair. I tried on many pairs before I found the perfect pair, but it was marked at $25. I looked in my purse and saw a credit card that was near its maximum limit. I called and found out that there was $48 left.
I noticed this woman and her husband were looking for shoes that would fit her. She tried on a lot of pairs, she had wide feet like mine. I asked her what size she was, and we were the same size. I showed her the shoes I was trying on and she liked them. I let her try
them on and they fit her perfectly. I told her she could buy them and looked for a different pair. After I found another pair of shoes, I noticed that the couple were counting change.
I walked up to the woman without thinking and took her shoes. I then went to the register and paid for both the pairs. I turned around gave her the pair, then said "Happy Birthday!" and left. I was in a hurry to get back to work. I wish I was a fly on the wall.
