Stories of Kindness from Around the World

A Random Act of Kindness Fulfill's a Wish

--by twinkle, posted Feb 18, 2010

I was reading through some of the wishes on the wishuponahero website today.

I saw one wish from a 27 year old woman for some scarves.  She has inoperable cancer and will have to have chemotherapy for the rest of her life.

She has a little child of 5 years old and she is so content with her life.  She enjoys helping others.  She really is an earth angel.

I looked on ebay and found some really pretty scarves, as soon as they arrive I am going to send them to her.

This lady has touched my heart so deeply.

My Mum was diagnosed with Breast Cancer with 8 Tumours at only 44 years old in 2001 when I was 11 and she had to have lots of Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy for many months. Chemotherapy is a horrible experience which makes you feel really sick and ill. My Mum is now a Breast Cancer survivor! As a family we petitioned the New Zealand Government and throughout New Zealand to get the free Mamography age down to 40-70years which was previously 50-64 years because so many young women were dying. As a family we got 125,000 signatures and then the Government then expanded the free Mamography age to 45-69 years. My Mum is now on the Bay of Plenty District Health Board and started up the Breast Cancer Action Trust where they subsidize some womens free Mamography from 40years.
Have a lovely day, Jacinda :)

I have seen children's faces glee with joy when their wishes are fulfilled. To think about extending this to older people is really great. I am sure she will really appreciate it and would be very happy! Happiness has a therapeutic effect - doctors say! :):):):):):):)
