Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Exchanging Gifts

--by cyctw, posted Apr 8, 2020
Several weeks ago I watched a documentary about a man who bought thousands of signs from those lacking shelter, financial capital, food, you name it. He then created an exhibit out of the signs, which traveled to different venues.

I was touched by what he did and today, as I walked out of Whole Foods, I saw Lucas holding this sign. I went up and offered him a bill. He seemed surprised at the amount.

After I gave it to him I said, "I should've asked you if I could buy your sign, but you may need it." Lucas replied, "You can have it, I can always make another one."

Rather than seeing this as something I purchased (a transaction), I view it as a gift from Lucas to me. I offered Lucas a gift expecting nothing in return, and he offered me his sign with the same heartfelt intention. Life is indeed beautiFULL and ONEderFULL once we allow it to just be, as we surrender to the greater good.
