Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Delivering an Important Document on an Important Day

--by monkeyinpajamas, posted Apr 18, 2010

I was a recipient of a profound act of loving-kindness this morning.

I woke up around 8 am to find my dad telling me happily, first thing in the morning,: "Your I-20 visa has finally arrived!"

To those who are not familiar with these terms, the I-20 visa is the document I need to proceed with my next degree, without which I would not be allowed to enter the US.  I have been extremely worried recently since I had only two weeks left to receive this important document.

"I knew it would come today," my dad and I said at the same time. It was the anniversary of when my grandfather,  a truly beautiful and kind soul, died. In fact, the house was noisy and busy with the rituals done to mark this date.

Someone, I don't know who, had come up to the house, and learning from the maid that the rituals were going on, dropped off the I-20 which had mistakenly been delivered to his address.

I dont know who dropped it off, but I can only imagine the huge trouble I would be in if he hadn't taken the effort and had the consideration to come to our home and drop it off.

Sometimes the only way I can thank the universe is with a sense of deep gratitude.

Wow you have maids over there!!! That's what they have in the movies!! In New Zealand we don't have maids.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Lots of love, Jacinda :)

Those are magical words, which I heard 3 years ago and I'm working so I can hear them again next year. Thank you for putting this up. And bless the fellow who got your I-20 back! Love and Prayers, Manish:)
