Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Never-ending Ripples

--by Ladybird1, posted Feb 1, 2021
There is a lot of talk about spreading the kindness ripples. And isn't it amazing when you see it happen with your eyes. I have observed a few ripples and wanted to share them with you:

1) About a year and a half ago, I visited my old school and on the "tour" noticed in the gym restrooms that somebody (a schoolgirl going by the handwriting) had provided a box with sanitary and little freebie care products for girls. I took the idea to my workplace and was pleased to see that the box grew AND the idea has spread to other restrooms!!!

2) Recently I noticed that there is somebody who posts the repetitive and similar  posts extremely regularly but doesn't get any smiles on some days. So, I made an extra effort to give them lots of smiles for each and every post and I have noticed that others have suddenly followed suit!!!

3) I mentioned the "magic tree" recently (the hollow tree trunk with branches pushed through) which gets adorned with little heartfelt notes, gifts, prayers, blessings. No idea who started it. From time to time, the gifts and branches all get taken away by some spoilsport but there is always a kind-hearted rebel who makes the tree flower again. Yesterday it was me. And I bet your boots there are a few additions next time I go back!

4) There are two of us at work (fairly new to the department) who always go out of our way to be kind and helpful. My suspicion is that we have infected a colleague (I'll call him X) who has always come across as narcisstic and egoistic because he always leaves lights and computers on and really tries to minimise work where he can, even bending rules so that he has a three-day week.

Now,  yesterday he sent an email offering to do something for us!!! Another colleague was astounded that X could be so helpful!!!

5) The hubby and I had a long holiday (before corona!) and friends of ours who looked after the house stocked the fridge and cupboard with groceries as they were bare! They got the idea from their family. And we returned the favour to our friends with a bag of goodies, so they could recharge after their long flight! What about YOU? Have you observed any kindness ripples. Pray tell!
