Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Crossing Paths with an Angel

--by Love2Day, posted Feb 22, 2021
Today I was at a food pantry where they give people food who can't afford it in the community. I'm in that category, and was homeless for about eight months last year. As I was waiting to be called to get some food, a lady across from me said, "Hey, you look familiar."

She asked where I worked. She looked familiar to me, too.

It dawned on me how I knew her. When I had just found a home after being homeless, I was still struggling for basic things. I went out and held a sign asking for help. She was one of the people who stopped and talked to me and gave me a hug and some money.

She was such a nice lady. She has been going through a lot of trouble, too. She was in a severe car accident and had to have brain surgery. She lost much of her memory and ability to do basic things, and has well over a million dollars in medical bills, Yes, a million.

We sat and talked for a while and hugged again. I felt really sad for her because of what she went through. Sometimes it doesn't make sense how the nicest people go through so much. It's so incredible that she and I crosssed paths again nearly a year later. She was so positive and kind even though she was going through so much. She is truly an angel.

I feel thankful people like her cross paths with me, even if briefly. I've really been feeling so depressed and sad lately because of things going on in my personal life, but seeing her again made me smile and be thankful for what I do have.

I find it hard to understand why some things happen but the sweetness of you being able to chat is a good thing. I hope life improves for both of you really soon x
Love2Day wrote: pluto, it's baffling to me too, it's really sad to me how so many lives are so difficult because of medical bills and such. I've had a lot of health issues too that I haven't spoken about here much, being homeless really wasn't even that difficult compared to other things. I feel more homeless now than when i technically was, I didn't feel so alone and un cared for as I do now, but hopefully that feeling will pass soon.
