Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Dear Maggie

--by dotmatrix, posted Aug 31, 2024
My mom had to go to urgent care last Friday. Her cousin Maggie took her. Maggie lives nearby, and I'm over an hour away by car. Maggie also does my mom's wash every week. Mom is fiercely independent. Every offer of help is refused. Maggie pretty much forced her to go to urgent care because Mom's face at their weekly breakfast was beet red. She learned she was having a COPD attack. She's okay now but very weak. She has a heart problem too and needs to see a specialist next week. All my offers to come and stay are refused. Frustrating, but I admire her spunk. And I'm so grateful for Maggie. She went shopping yesterday for my mom. Maggie also takes care of her late husband's brother and takes him to doctor's appointments and shopping. He's been very sick. She's an angel of kindness.
