Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Cooking Up A Storm

--by cabbage, posted Apr 11, 2025
At the soup kitchen on Saturday I asked someone what they needed and they said " a smile?" And of course I BEAMED at them :-) I was also happy to be able to go around offering fresh fruit to people and chocolate milk for little kids.

My friend and her husband are out of town on work, so I drove to her house to visit her elderly parents and dropped off homemade hot lunch for them on Sunday. Her sister was staying with them and was very touched.

Made food for another elderly friend whose husband just got released from hospital into hospice. Just sat with her and listened to her--it's tough.

Sent prayers of encouragement to someone whose parent is going through health issues.

Brought over dinner tonight to a neighbor who recently lost her mom. Was able to sneak off campus for a bit today to pick up her favorite bakery treats (not too far from my work in the city). Gave lots of hugs too.

Called my best friend from college just to hear her voice in the middle of the day! (She lives 3000 miles away so coordinating calls is sometimes tricky)

Brought homemade soup and cookies to another neighbor who just had surgery. Have been checking in on her.
