Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Poem Of A Kindness That Touches The Heart

--by mindyjourney, posted Jun 1, 2025

Longtime KS friend, patjos, composed this *poem/prayer that has truly touched not only my heart, but many others. Mish was even invited to read aloud recently at a Service Space online event.

Grateful for our continued encouragement of each other.

Be not dismayed, WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE!

*A Prayer for One Who Stands in Kindness
for Mish, by Patjos 4.25.25

I see the cruelty, the mockery, the easy lies.
I see the gleam of power used to wound, not heal.
I see how a nation’s soul can be torn
not with swords, but with smirks and slogans.

And still, I choose to be kind.
Still, I plant gentleness in the soil of each day.
Still, I speak to the dignity of others,
even when it’s buried beneath anger and fear.

I do not mistake softness for weakness.
I do not confuse quietness with surrender.
I know that kindness is not naivety,
but defiance - sacred, stubborn defiance.

When the loudest seeks to divide,
may I remain whole.
When hope feels naive,
may I remember it is not small to hope - it is holy.
And when the world forgets what good leadership looks like,
may I still remember.

May I never harden to match their cruelty.
May I never grow silent when kindness needs a voice.
And my heart be a sanctuary -
not just for me, but for those around me
who need to remember that goodness is still alive.

With Patjos’ permission, I have been including a copy of his poem/prayer with every flock of 5 Doves of Action that I share (folks seemed thrilled to be able to share them too), along with an updated blessing tucked in each.

Even Mr. Mindy helped make a super flock ready to give to fellow May Day Strong participants tomorrow! 🕊️ 💪

I will continue to pray for peace for everyone wherever possible. X
