Stories of Kindness from Around the World

World Turtle Day

“Folks love these turtles!” Padre Island National Seashore’s park store manager exclaimed.

I have been gifting them origami turtles every time we winter in Texas and visit the Park.

Taking a deep breath, knowing the amount was going to be high, I asked, “How many do you think you’d need for your turtle release in a few months?”

“About a thousand!!!”

Smiling and already calculating how to make a dent in that request while folding as we journeyed by car, plane, watching TV, listening to audio books, and music while still making Peace Doves, I replied confidently, “I’ll see what I can do!”

About 400 origami turtles later - (many thanks to Mr. M for counting!), made, mailed, received and already exuberantly being shared, I found this lovely appreciation in my inbox.

“Mindy, I couldn't wait to pass them out! They definitely accomplish their purpose and goals! I had many smiles πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒand you could tell there was a peaceful connection! It even gave me peace just handing them out. Several women told me to tell you thank for the time and energy that you put into these. We had a group of students here for their senior trip, and even they were excited about receiving the turtles! Exciting to see high school students appreciate them.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. You make a positive impact in the world!”

And that, my kind friends, is how to encourage and amp up the kindness!!!!! So, very grateful for every connection 🐒 πŸ•ŠοΈ πŸ’ͺ.

*Had to post this today, since it's World Turtle Day - May, 23, and with Mish's encouragement :).

dotmatrix wrote: Wow. You are amazing, Mindy. I wanted to hand out peace doves at the table I'll be setting up once I get permission from one of the supermarkets for the food collection. I was looking for that tutorial where you show how to make them. Could you share that again? Or did I dream that up? O.o β™₯
