Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Kindness Given And Received

Yesterday, was a beautiful day for me. First thing, I walked to the supermarket to pick up provisions for meals. As I walked back, I saw Alex who works at the local library on the opposite side of the street. When she saw me, she smiled and said, 'Hi Helen.' I responded with 'Hello to you and I'll see you this afternoon'.

When I got to the library after my lunch, I opened my backpack and gave Catherine several items which might be useful for crafts. I used a computer to order a flask for a friend and then settled to do some knitting. I brought with me a basket I've knitted. I was able to cut 2 circles of card to make the bottom of it flat and some material to give it a lining. When I'd cut them out, I realised I'd forgotten my needles and threads so I couldn't sew it.

Last week when I'd needed a needle and thread, Catherine was able to give me a needle and thread so I could complete the task. I asked her if I could borrow it again and she said she would get. A few minutes later, Catherine told me she was going to lead the toddler's singing so Kay would get the tin for me. Kay came across with a soft toy in her hand and explained it was an owl which had a horrible hat on his head so, they removed it. Catherine had found some fur which would blend with his eyebrows and come the patch where the hat had been. Kay asked if I would mind sewing the patch on to the owl. Of course I could - it was lovely give something back to help the staff. It took me a few minutes and both of them made me feel happy and relaxed.
