Stories of Kindness from Around the World

The Ripple Effect From One Little Trip To The Store

--by smilingdaisy, posted Jun 5, 2011

I wrote a story yesterday about, my 11-year-old daughter, her friend, and I stopping to help a man yesterday.  Well, after stopping and talking with him for a minute, the girls were buzzing with ideas of how to help this man, and possibly other needy people as well.  We came home and they shared their ideas with my 6-year-old son.

The three of them started getting out craft supplies and making things to raise money to help this man and his family.  Well, I talked with a friend and she shared a wonderful idea with the kids.  She told us about an angel we can make and  sell for $1.00 to  our family, friends, and church family.  The kids were so excited that they couldn't wait.  In the meantime they made some clothespin butterflies.

Today, they came into the adult's Sunday school and told them their idea.  They were very pleased with all of the orders they received today.  Later this week we are going to my friend's and she and her children are going to help us too.

That one little act of kindness has turned into  a mission for our children!  I'm so proud of all of them!!!

By one act of kindness you've shown your children what a gift to oneself kindness to others can be, plus, it had a ripple down effect, in that the crafts they are making are being bought by adult church members who want to also help this man. What a wonderful lesson you have taught your children, in a day and age when children are callous and unresponsible and do not care for their fellow humans. We are all in this world together; in fact lady gaga phrased it best by saying on a talk show "in god's eyes, every person has the same value" you have taught your children that.
