Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Giving A Family The Gift Of Christmas

--by jesusseeking3, posted Jul 23, 2011

My sister and I were working in the same restarant. We had been Christmas shopping for our families and were talking about it at work.

One of the cooks said that she and her husband were so broke they didn't think they would be able to get anything for their three kids. This completely broke our hearts!  We offered to help but she refused. I think she felt that if we were to help her that would be taking away from our families.

We decided to help anyway, so we gathered together family and friends and went shopping!

We didn't just get stuff for the kids we got gifts for the parents too. It was so much fun! Then, on Christmas Eve, my sister and I waited until it was really dark and we put the overflowing bag of wrapped presents inside their porch. We leaned the bag against the door so that when they opened the door on Christmas Morning the presents would fall in on them! We never told her we did it and to this day it is still one of the Christmas memories I hold closest to my heart!

This story is truly inspiring and i hope that if a situation like this comes my way i can step up and help someone just like you did! I thank god everyday for people like you, who make our world a better place! :)
