The Gift Of A Friendly Chat

--by hiphopsl, posted Aug 13, 2011

I saw someone on the subway and thought, 'I know this guy from somewhere.'

We happened to get off at the same stop. I wanted to say something to him but I thought he would probably think it odd if a stranger started talking to him. But, weirdly, I had a strong feeling that he might need some friendly conversation.

So, I said hello and explained I thought I knew him from somewhere. He was very nice but didn't recognise me. Then it dawned on me that we had once dated girls who were room-mates. He said, "You're right!" and we chatted happily about those days.

As we went our separate ways he said, "Hey! Thanks for saying something. And I really appreciated you talking to me."

I knew then that, for whatever reason, he had needed a friendly conversation. I was glad I had listened to the urging in my heart. Doing that little thing for him brightened my day also!
