Stories of Kindness from Around the World

A Two Dollar Tip That Was Worth Much More

--by Aurelia, posted Oct 2, 2011

We had some work done on our house last week.

My husband was pleased with the work and wanted to give the worker a tip, but he only had $2 in his wallet and was embarrassed to offer such a small amount.

He apologised as he offered the man the $2.

Because my husband chatted with the man as he did his work he knew my husband was unemployed and told him to keep the money. He said it was the thought that counted and he knew that we needed the money. He said it felt good to be appreciated for his efforts!

I am glad my husband offered and even happier that both men displayed such honour and kindness that day!
