Stories of Kindness from Around the World

Teelu The Puppy

--by Redrose, posted May 13, 2012

Yesterday afternoon the sky was dark and the rain poured down. I went upstairs to catch the cool breeze.

It was still moody, as if sky and the clouds were tired and decided to cry some rain. Yet the climate was awesome and the breeze cooled my body from head to toe.

I went onto the balcony and saw a small puppy near the gate of our apartment. He had been drenched by the rain.

I immediately ran downstairs with a towel in my hand. I rushed to the puppy and wrapped him in the towel.

I cleaned the mud from him, got into an auto, and took him to nearby veterinary doctor. He examined him and gave an injection for his health.

I brought him back home and made a place for him to sleep. I gave him a cup of milk and bread to keep his hunger away. He was good enough and slept peacefully.

This morning I was waken by his sweet kiss - and then my doorbell rang!

There was a little fellow standing there. His smile brightened up my morning and I asked how I could help him.

He said, "Hi, sister. I am Roshan. I saw you picking up a puppy yesterday. I waited for you to return but the rain was too heavy to wait long. Sister, can I see the puppy?"

"Oh, my dear," I said. "Come in. You are most welcome."

He started playing with the puppy and his smile just could not be contained. I went to get some coffee and a cup of milk for the puppy.

The boy had his coffee then he said, "Sister, can I ask you one thing?" I said, "Yes, dear. Ask me."

"Will you give the puppy to me?" he asked. "I will take good care of him." His smile disappeared behind a worried expression as he waited to hear how I would reply.

I smiled and said, "Oh, my dear! You can have him as my gift." I gave him the puppy and everything the vet had given me.

He named his new friend "Teelu." He left my home much happier than when he arrived and I was very, very happy that Teelu had a home and that my morning had been filled with smiles. I thank God for giving me such a opportunity!
