Stories of Kindness from Around the World

With a Handful of Flowers

--by Heavensto, posted Nov 5, 2012

I have performed many acts of kindness in the past, but recently I became the receiver!

One day, while walking down the street with my dogs, I noticed a young girl with a small handful of flowers walking towards me. She approached me and asked about my Chihuahuas.

We chatted for awhile.

Then, she asked if she could give me a flower.

It was a small gesture, but it made my day so much brighter.  She seemed so at peace with herself.  Her calm energy flowed to me and I felt good all day.

It is so great to know that kindness can happen at any age.

She was having difficulty finding shirts and jackets to wear as her hand was bandaged up so big that she could not get the sleeves over it. She needed something warm right away as it was only 3 degrees outside! I remembered that my daughter had worn a fleece poncho when she was pregnant eleven years ago. I looked for it in my basement closet and much to my surprise it was still there! I quickly wrapped it in a box and mailed it to her. I felt so grateful that i was able to help her even from two thousand miles away!

See how she gave it so innocently? No awkward moment was there? I'm learning from the kids! :)
Glad you're welcoming the receiving part gracefully.
